PiPS member, Dave Sumner, shares his experience of moving from policing into the private sector
I have learnt an awful lot from speaking to colleagues further ahead of me on the path to finding a new career after completing working life in the police, as well as by reading articles from the PIPS Linkedin Group. So I think it is only right to give something back.
My route into the private sector after policing
I left the metropolitan police in 2014 and had over 3 months paid leave. I chose the date I wanted to leave as I had completed 2 additional years and had reached as far as I would go. Prior to retiring, I had 2 job interviews but had been unsuccessful in both.
